Our first day without our fearless leader

We spent our Sunday here Tuxtla since we were tired from our travels Saturday. When we got up, we went to the pool in the hotel and we spent two hours tanning and swimming. After, we went to a restaurant to eat another comida corrida. YeSeul and Taylor returned to the Fiesta Inn after lunch and Lauren, Kyle, and David went to the bakery and after that we went to a barber shop because Kyle wanted to cut his hair. For dinner, we went to the Park of the Juventud (the Youth Park) to celebrate YeSeul’s last night in Mexico with us. We had different types of meat with tortillas and it was delicious. Near the Park of the Juventud there is a large monument (almost like a pyramid) that we climbed up to see almost all of Tuxtla. We went to the highest part and chatted a bit about Tuxtla and our lives. When we returned to the Fiesta Inn, we talked a little more until we need to go to sleep. YeSeul left at 6:30 am and left us a note saying goodbye because she didn’t want to disturb our slumber. So, we want to say thanks to YeSeul for all of her help in the first part of our trip, and we hope that she has a good trip this semester. So the Alchemist says…“everyone on earth has a treasure that awaits him”…or her. Good Luck!

We did two activities today in the Casa Telmex program. Our first activity is called “Compatibility.” It’s a game where each person in the group has the same number of cards and one person says something like “I have visited the United States.” All the people that have never visited the US have to give the person who spoke a card. The goal of the game is to have the highest number of cards at the end. After this game, we began our biggest activity of the day. This activity is called, “Leader in all parts of the world” and in groups, the students and the facilitators researched about a leader from a country that we assigned them. Each person researched about a leader of a country and after, discussed with their group about the similarities between the leaders. After all the groups discussed about their leaders, they presented them to the others. It seemed to us that the presentations were very good and that all the people learned a lot about the different types of leaders all over the world. Although they found leaders in all different parts of the world, there are many similarities between the leaders in their lives also in their characteristics.

We went to lunch with the other facilitators of Casa Telmex after the session. We ate gorditas (literally “little female fatties”) near the Soriana and we talked a lot about life in Chispas and phrases of the region. We had a good time and we are excited to get to know the other facilitators of Casa Telmex better.
