Secret Plans

The excitement began early this Thursday. For the first time, we caught the first combi #91 that passed our hotel. We arrived at Casa Telmex and chatted with the students while we enjoyed the sun. After some time, we began our first activity called, “Electricity.” In this game, everyone lies on their stomachs and makes a circle with their hands. They cross hands with those people next to them. They can pass the “electricity” around the circle by slapping their palms against the floor in turn. One can also slap the ground twice. If this happens, the next hand is skipped and play contines with the one following it. And, when a person hits the ground with a first instead, the direction of the electricity flow changes. It was a little bit difficult at first, but after a few rounds, everyone was playing like an expert. Angélica was the winner.
To continue to theme of concentration and problem solving, Julio lead an activity called “Brain Teasers.” Everyone was given three difficult brain teasers to solve in teams. Many of the groups had success in the end and everyone learned more about working as a team. Afterward, we continued our PicoCricket projects. It was very exciting to see all the groups overcome obstacles to complete their projects. I am also really excited to see the presentations they’ll give Friday.
We went to lunch today at Soraina. We ate somewhat fast so we could buy some bread, juice and cheese for breakfast in the hotel tomorrow. Also, Kyle finally found a shirt he likes and socks that say “Athletic” in Spanish to bring back to the US at the end of our trip.
Also, on the way back, we saw some leaf-cutter ants carrying leaves back to their nest. We watched them for awhile, made some obscure analogies to leaders, and took some photos.
Tonight, we are going to the Parque de Marimba with some of the students and facilitators from the program to begin celebrating Lauren’s birthday. It is possible that even I will learn to dance with all the dance experts we have in Casa Telmex. We also need to buy a piñata in preparation for session tomorrow.
